2003 Oklahoma MERLOT Conference

INVITATION TO REGISTER

Registration closed as of 5:00 PM on March 25, 2003.  If you are interested in learning more about MERLOT or would be interested in attending the next State MERLOT Conference, please contact Dr. Jim Bidlack at jbidlack@uco.edu

The Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) program (http://www.merlot.org) is a continually growing collection of online learning materials and support resources that help faculty enhance their instruction. Eighteen U.S. State Systems of Higher Education, a consortium of Canadian Higher Education Institutions, and individual campuses are currently sponsoring MERLOT. The institutions working on this cooperative project represent about 1,300 institutions, over 300,000 faculty and over 7 million students. The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education is a Founding Institutional Partner of MERLOT and provided leadership on the project for the last 4 years.

On Thursday, 27 March 2003, the University of Central Oklahoma will host a meeting for faculty members interested in learning more about MERLOT and using this program to enhance their teaching endeavors. Dr. Gerry Hanley, Executive Director of MERLOT, will be the featured speaker in the morning, along with State MERLOT Representatives in the afternoon. The morning presentation, which will start at 10:00 AM, will take place in Ballroom C of the University Center, followed by lunch, and afternoon sessions on the UCO Campus. Afternoon sessions will end at 3:00 PM.

This Oklahoma MERLOT Conference is designed to introduce the program to faculty, provide individual disciplines with access to teaching materials, and enable faculty participation. Since MERLOT is a free service to all faculty members, students, and the general public, there is no cost to participate.

All Oklahoma Faculty Members are encouraged to attend this MERLOT Meeting. The meeting is being sponsored by The McGraw-Hill Companies, so registration and lunch will be provided at no cost to attendees. Reservations can be made on a first-come, first-served basis, with 5 slots allocated per university until 14 March 2003. Additional slots may be available after that time and individual faculty should contact UCO to make reservations. The contact person is Dr. Brent Wendling, Coordinator of Faculty Enhancement, and his e-mail address is bwendling@uco.edu. Dr. Wendling may also be contacted by phone at (405) 974-5544. Be sure to provide your name, institute, discipline, and e-mail address with your reservation request.
